The interpretation of
any card depends upon a number of factors - the spread used and the
inherent meaning of the position the card is in will affect the
interpretation, as will links with other cards and positions in the
reading. There is no single meaning or association for any card -
if you are new to the Tarot and have looked through the booklet that
came with your cards you are probably bewildered by the range and
ambiguity for each card. Don't despair! There is no right or wrong, no
set of original laid down instructions - the meanings and associations
given here are based on my own which are, in turn, the result of over
30 years of reading and research on top of and around the classical
& historical associations. All good readers evolve their own set of
meanings and system of interpretation - the ones given here are to help
you start reading. |
The Major Arcana
comprises the 21 'trumps', those cards most associated with Tarot
readings and those that are not part of any suit. Also a 'trump' and
thus included in the Major Arcana is The Fool . |
